With more husbands/fathers working than wives/mothers, this essentially became a wealth transfer from men to women. While some states have reduced (and even eliminated) the amounts, and some divorced women are finding THEY have to pay vs. their ex-husbands, it isn’t as prevelant as it used to be. However, men still contribute in a higher ratio to women in this transfer of wealth. Second, there was/is child support. This is basically state-mandated (and criminally enforced) transfer of wealth in which only one side is held accountable (both things in violation of the U.S. Constitution). Again, in 85%+ of the cases it is men who have to pay.
