All because you’re in the mood for Eggs Benedict? That is odd and you’re coming across as a high maintenance. Who’s paying isn’t really the issue here, in my opinion. It’s a first date, you haven’t even met the guy, you can eat your eggs benedict and satisfy your meal cravings another time. I would probably have cancelled on that date too. (Actually, I probably would have told you from the oustet that I don’t do afternoon brunch dates, but that’s beside the point.) Ultimately, it doesn’t mean he’s not still interested in meeting. I would just reschedule for the orginal “drinks date” which is what he suggested. If you try to move him off the drinks date again, I’m sure that will be the end of that.

Thanks for saying that, DMN, I knew something was bugging me about this…I’ve never had an afternoon date turn out well. It’s not that I need a drink to have a good date (and I realize a mimosa is a drink), but I think it both lessens the inhibitions and puts me in a more flirty, date-oriented place. I’m a night person anyway, so maybe it’s just that the daytime keeps me in the friend zone.
